Great little heater

I have 3 (three) of this heaters since 2009. They are terrific at keeping room temperature constant without fluctuations. I usually place them by warm air receptacle exit, and keep units in "Hi" mode at 70F.
When warm air blows out from the receptacle, DVTH helps to redistribute the air through the room and then keeps temperature stable.
I use the same units during summer months in "Fan" mode to mix the cold air.
I'm using these fans almost every day to supplement my central air.
One of the fans failed recently and was immediately replaced by Vornado - free return shipping!!!
When warm air blows out from the receptacle, DVTH helps to redistribute the air through the room and then keeps temperature stable.

I use this in my office in the basement . I keep it running all day during the winter months and I don't even notice that it is on. It keeps a perfect temperature in the room, and it's not hot to touch. Great product!

Safe and warm heat.

We bought this to provide safe heat and save money on electric and so far it is doing great. We have 5 chihuahuas and the heater is safe for them and I don't have to turn it off when unsupervised. You can hear it blowing but it isn't that loud we have ours in the same room as TV and it doesn't present any problems. I don't know yet how much cheaper the electric bill is yet but this heater has replaced 2 other heaters I used to heat the same area and does a much better job heating. The fact that it circulates the warm air is a huge plus.We will eventually buy other vornado heaters for all rooms.

quiet and efficient

Use this unit in our entryway to warm a cold area - works great without too much air movement, is very quiet, and temperature controlled.....so far, great. But we've only had it for a few weeks, so we'll see how durable it is down the line....

I work from home, and I wanted to make my home office warmer while not hiking the thermostat for the whole house. This little heater does the trick nicely. It's not too noisy, cool to the touch, and works well even when I keep the door ajar. I LOVE that it's made in America...that stipulation was a "must" for me.

Great Heater - holds temp well

This heater just works. I have found that I have to set the temp slightly cooler and then it keeps it evenly warm (in my case set it on 68 to get 70 or so). It works great to keep the bedroom comfortable (coldest room in the house without the heater), and runs on low setting most of the time.
I did recently have a chance to check out how much heat this will produce when the house furnace went out on a 25 degree day in January. I had the DVTH and a several year old mechanical thermostat Vornado also, and I turned them both on full blast to keep the house warm while we waited the weekend for a furnace blower motor to arrive. With the good air circulation from these heaters the two together kept the house warm enough and were a real live saver in this case.
I recommend Vornado to all my friends.

Love the Vornado

You should do more advertising. I had not heard of you. I found out from a friend. I bought a Sun Heater this year. It stoppped working after one week. I really was glad because it did not heat that well. I bought a Vornado for less than 1/2 the price. It heats my living, dining and kitchen area. Love it.

I purchased a DVTH and within a month the product started having issues. It would turnoff during the night while I was trying to heat my childern's room. It would switch to FA mode and they would wake up cold. I used it a couple more times in my room, but again, it would switch to FA mode. I called Vornado and they immediately sent a label so I could return the product. Within 7 days they were shipping my fixed unit back without out-of-pocket expense. On top of that, I could tell they were willing to do what it took to keep me as a loyal customer. The customer service person on the phone said they had a five year warranty and I didn't even need my receipt. Awesome.
If your like me and want to buy a heater only once, then Vornado is the route for you.
I've lived in the northeast for the better part of six years and I've tried countless other heaters to help with heating cost in my home. Once I found Vornado, I will never look back. Things are going to break, that is for certain. But, if you want it fixed without having to pay for parts and labor, the choice is simple. You get what you pay for is what I was always told. Now that I know they are willing to fix my unit every time it might break, is worth the initial cost for me.
Finally, Vornado has customer loyalty programs. If you buy once, they will explain your options if one of your units breaks and you want to replace with a new one. Awesome.
If your like me and want to buy a heater only once, then Vornado is the route for you.

Our kitchen, dining, and living room are basically one open space. We bought this heater because we live in NJ and our gas bill is killing us. We didnt expect much but the reviews were good, we were pleasantly suprised. I wont say that it keeps the whole space comfortable because it is a large space. It does however keep the living room warm and even semi heats the other 2 rooms. Also in its favor is the fact that my 2 year old is constantly messing with it and has not been hurt or broken the heater, that definitely says something for the quality of the product. My only complaint is the price because I am cheap, but it is well worth the money.

Defective Unit - Digital Vortex Heat

Do not buy this product. This is defective. It didn't make it through 2 winter seasons. This heater will heat a room to a desired temperature but fails miserably to keep the room at a desired temperature. I tried to use this to keep my son's room warm (70 degrees). It will bring the room temperature up to this but at some point during the night, it clicks on to the FA mode and then the room temperature drops and the heater does not kick back on and push out heat. THis should not happen. It should cycle if the room is a desired temperature but kick back on if it starts to fall. I wasted my money on this. I have tested this every night since November. Ever night - my son's room is 66 degrees by the morning time and the heater is on FA mode - cycling the fan and pushing/circulating cool air. POINTLESS and a waste of my money. We purchased another Vornado - the non digital unit and this unit doesn't work properly either. It only pushes hot/warm hair continuously when its on the "high" mode. Low mode pushes out cool air. I question the quality of Vornado's products. Very disappointing. I gave this brand another shot after wasting money on the digital unit. Both proved to be a mistake and an unfortunate waste of my money.

Excellent performance but short-lived

I have owned three Vornados. I bought my first Vornado DVTH in October 2007. I loved the heater's performance: it was whisper-quiet and emanated a soft warmth throughout most of a small bedroom. (It was such a contrast with the heater it replaced, which was, by my estimate, at least 25 years old. The older heater was noisy and barely heated the room beyond a limited hot spot.) The first Vornado died within its warranty period, and was replaced at no charge. Fair enough. The replacement Vornado made it beyond its warranty period, but died soon thereafter. A disappointment, yes, but I was hooked and bought another. I have owned my third Vornado for just over a year now, and hope it outlasts the first two. I give an excellent rating for heater performance, but only an average rating for quality. Notwithstanding its longevity issues, I intend to remain a Vornado customer. They're worth it!

Great fan when it works...

We also own a AVTH heater and generally like Vernado heaters. This one however will go back to Amazon this week.
It is great and works as expected when it is running, but for some reason keeps shutting itself off at random times. I might get one of the non digital ones, but at this time I am not even sure that I want to do that anymore.

I live in the Midwest and have used Vornado whole room heaters for the past 3 winters. I turn it on in late October and shut it off in early April. I recently purchased a more expensive brand that had a 5 year warranty. In December, 2010 we had a week of single digit temperatures. The best the other brand heater could do was to maintain the room at an uncomfortable 66 degrees. I saw a display for the Vornado, DVTH model, Whole Room Heater at our local hardware store and bought one. Within an hour of plugging it in the room was a comfortable 72 degrees. With the 5 year warranty on this model I will be warm and cozy for many winters to come.

Back in 2000, I first got one of these heaters. I had tried some 5 or 6 other heaters and was having problems staying warm in the winter. When I got the Vornado heater, I was more than skeptical by that point. I remember thinking, 'with no glowing heating elements, what's the point?' I put the heater in the corner, closed the door to the bathroom and the living room, so I was just heating my bedroom and then went to sleep. When I woke up I remember three things. The first was that I was not hot. I was comfortable and not cold. I just figured it had been a warmer night than expected. The second thing I remember was me telling myself 'Well, I'm taking this one back too!' The third thing I remember was opening the door to the restroom. I'll never forget that. After thinking that this heater did nothing all night, I waltz into the bathroom like normal only to find myself almost shreaking from the blast of cold air from inside.
The heater not only works, it makes it comfortable! Not to hot, nor to cold! This is a great heater.

I received this unit a year ago as a gift and only used it a few times. Now it turns on, but the fan does not work. When it worked it worked good, but had poor fan output and was no better than other heaters or fans I have used. I think the other fans and heaters I have used work better and cost three times less than this one. I would not recommend anyone purchasing this product.

I have owned two and now it will be three. These will not last more than three years but I do have to say that it has warmed up the room by warming the air and I like the digital temperature reader on this one. The customer service is very good. I have had one for a few years and smelled burning. They alleviated my feelings and offered me another after I shipped this one back at a discount. This service keeps me as a customer.

I had two DVTHs and both broke quickly. The first one lasted about a week then it just would not turn on. I returned it and reluctantly decided to give Vornadao one more chance this year. My second DVTH also does not work -- It will shut itself off in the middle of the night about half the time. I will return this one as well. The concept is good but the execution is poor.
