Love the fan flaws and all
Date:February 29, 2012
I bought this fan over the weekend and just got it yesterday, it doesnt take me long at all to figure out what I like in a fan and I can usually get the info I need from a fan in 5 mins. I saw this similar model at frys called the V10 which is actually a cheaper lower end model of the V8, this one comes in black though which I really love the color, look, and style I thought that because the V10 was a lower model the V8 had to be better, I did look at the specs and in all the V8 was a tad more powerful. Im not your average fan user, I sleep with my fan and have since I was a baby I rely on it to cut out background noises, to provide the white noise to help me sleep but mainly the breeze to my face helps me sleep and breath better at night. the only 3 issues I have with this fan are that the LED lights on the front light up my room on my ceiling they are waaaaay too bright, so I had to put duct tape on them I really dont want to take the time to solder the diodes off the mainboard to turn the lights off or put dimmer ones in it. That was issue number one, issue two is the fan IS NOT loud enough, as I said before I need the white noise it cuts out all noises around me, and since I have people in my house that dont go to sleep the same time I do, I now hear everything going on in my house even with my bedroom door shut, however this dont bother me all that much because its problem number 3 that really take care of the white noise. This leads to issue number 3 and this IS a big problem for me, I graduated from the vornado 540B and is a power house in a small package (which is no longer made anymore) it has the same size motor and just a hare bit bigger blades but yet it pushes more force out, thus creating the white noise and airflow that helps me sleep...since this fan really started dyin on me thats why I purchased this one, this fan is quite a bit bigger and bulkier than my old 540 B yet it is weaker? really!?!?! the 540B has only two settings "wow this is comfy" and "holy cow did i just stick my head out of a moving car" those are the two speeds. what it really boils down to is this, this is a really high tech fan, it has 3 settings AND a remote and with 3 fan settings, the 2nd and 3rd settings arent that different in RPMs actually there is a bit bigger jump in settings 1 and 2 than 2 and 3, if you are going to have 3 settings on a fan the last setting really does need to be obviously high and noticable to the user....I love you guys product but please improve this, its a great fan but it really needs to be more powerful.
