Nice Heater, Huge disadvantage!!!

The reason I rated this heater low is because I cannot depend on the heater due to a major disadvantage.
I recently purchased a Vornado I-Control heater. (EH1-0041-44) This is a great heater, it keeps an even temperature, is remote control, and it can be set to a temperature as indicated on a digital readout on the front of the heater.
There is a disadvantage that people need to be aware of when this heater is to be depended on unattended. When power is lost the heater shuts off and does not come back on when the power comes on. This is huge if the heater being used is in a residence like a mobile home, unattended during the day. If the power cycles you will come home to a cold house. If it is very cold, there may even be a damage potential.
This heater would be one of the best heaters out there, if it did not shut off when the power cycled. It just needs an internal battery to remember its settings. In its current configuration I cannot depend on this heater in the very cold weather.
Sometimes a person is better off with a plain heater with a dial. It may not control as well, but it will come back on when the power cycles.

I am on my second iControl heater and have had nothing but problems with them. I have contacted the company and they have been very helpful. I am taking their advise and replacing my iControl heater with a DVTH heater, which is made in the USA and has great reviews. Again the company has been super in replacing the broken heaters.

I was hesitant to purchase the iControl or any Vornado product after reading numerous reviews online about poor quality control and the heaters breaking in a short period of time. I decided to take a chance and ordered the iControl since I really liked it's looks and features. When I received it, the build quality was much less than I expected for a heater of this price. My old $30 Lasko is built like a tank compared to this thing. The iControl did look nice though. I plugged it in, set the temp and ran it for about 30 minutes. It did a nice job heating up the room. Several hours later I put it in our child's room and turned it on. It produced a slight burning smell and the fan would not run. I adjusted every setting possible after reading the instruction guide thinking that I was doing something wrong, but it never worked again. This heater lasted 30 minutes!! I am disappointed, because I really wanted this heater to work out, but I should have listened to all the bad reviews about Vornado heaters. They are true.

I bought this heater after searching online for 2 weeks, and after reading many reviews I (thankfully) chose this one! I honestly did not think a heater this small would be able to do the job right, and stay as quiet as it does... WOW, was I pleasantly surprised! Not only is this thing outrageously quiet, but it also gets any room warm quick and keeps it at a great temperature. This heater is going to save me a ton during the winter...(im not a big fan of the cold!) ... :)

Love this heater

After getting the vornado 184 tower fan, it was time to try out this heater and replace our Lasko tower heater. I have to say, I'm very impress with this product. It's a lot quieter than the Lasko tower heater and it actually heats the whole living room plus more. Overall, I love the fact that it maintains the temperature in the room keeping it nice and cozy instead of it feeling to hot or cold. The only gripe I have about the Icontrol heater is when the fan is on low, it makes this clicking noise. It's not to bad, but if I'm just reading a nice book I can hear this heater's clicking noise that could be annoying.

The best I have ever owned.

I had the TVH500 for about a year. It performed well enough but quit working. After just one phone call to the service department, I was offered two choices. I could get the same model or switch to the iControl. I read the product descriptions and was impressed by the continuous action of the iControl. My only question was regarding the cool touch feature of the TVH500. I was assured that all of the heaters were cool touch. Since receiving the new iContol, I have been very impressed with it's ability to heat the space and keep it at a comfortable level. Whereas other brands allow large variations in temperature. Thank you, Vornado.

Bought the icontrol and find it lacking. My home is only 1076 sq ft, with force air gas furnance. Following the instructions the heater lacks something to be desired. The room it sits in, is 16sq ft and it remains cold, so the heat has been increased on the furnance. Will call tomorrow it goes back.

CAN"T open it to clean the fan (TERRIBLE) it's coated with DUST....

Whether You're Hot or Cold, Just Move Some Air

I've been enjoying the use of the iControl whole room heater for awhile now. When I originally received it I was expecting to really only use it in the colder months to warm my body, but I've been enjoying it in the summer months as well. I take advantage of the fan only mode in the warmer months just to circulate air in our living room and have some air blowing on me when I'm specifically hot.
Because of the unit's design, I can place it right up against the opposite wall and it will still blow a nice cooling breeze to me while I'm sitting on the couch.
Of course, when I'm cold, having the Vornado iControl circulate all the colder air in the room and replace it with nicely warmed air is great! Don't think you'll only use this unit during one season though.
The price is a bit high, but because of the use, I think it's worth it for a great unit like the iControl. Now if I could just find the include remote that I misplaced so I didn't have to get up to turn it on and off!
