It has only one real fault

I have been using two of these in different rooms for 3 or 4 winters. They have a tendency to get noisier--a rattle-y noise--even on low speed. That's a problem at night in the bedroom. So are the bright blue LED lights that light up the room, but I cover them with a sticky note. Except for the noise, I like this product very much and it has made a difference in our winter comfort. I don't have any problems with the wicks.

Good humidifier but it uses a lot of filters and on the high setting makes a lot more noise than it should.

Does a fine job of humidifying my bedroom, but the blue lights are annoying, and I'm not pleased to have to maintain TWO filters, used to be one.

Overall a solid humidifier that does what it claims to do - quietly humidifies a given area. However:
*Overall materials feel cheap - the unit feels like thin plastic all round.
*Refilling water is a pain - everytime the big reservoir has to be completely removed and brought under a tap to refill with water. Also has to be filled atleast once every other day.
*Lack of antifungal/antibacterial technology - I was out of town for 3 days and when I turned the unit on after I got back, I immediately noticed a moldy smell.
This unit could easily be in the luxury/top of the line category if the above points were addressed.

Great performance but poor filters

This unit does wonders with providing rooms with humidity. However, the filters are too fragile. The filters easily tear if handled when wet. The unit itself is great, but the filters are not durable whatsoever. I don't see how these filters can last 4-8 weeks.

Nice, quiet humidifier

I read reviews before I bought this, I like the smaller, easier to handle resevoir. Maybe ours does not have to run as much as others in colder climates (we are in Tennessee). Usually I only have to fill it every 2 - 3 days, and it's much easier to handle than the very large
(2-1/2 gallon) tanks for our previous Vornado.

This one doesn't seem to lime up as much in the bottom as our old unit, and the large opening makes the resevior much easier to clean out!
Only minor issue is I wish the tank would sit upright when upside down - it sits at an angle (probably to provide the looks).

Over the years I've used a variety of means to increase the humidity in my home during the winter: water in pans on heaters, devices that are used for colds, and finally my Vornado that I've had for several years now. It is easy to clean, operates like a charm, and keeps my home comfortable. The key is to use distilled or filtered water if you live in hard water areas.

This humidifier is compact and does excellent job. It is quiet even at highest fan speed. I got tired of filling my previous one 1-2 times a day; this one I only needed to fill once a day even at the highest setting. Be prepared to replace the wicks; I have to change mine annually as I only run it in the winter. Yes they are expensive but they are no more expensive than any other humidifier I've seen. The wicks can be cleaned a few times but the calcificatin ruins the shape and then they won't go back in the unit easily. Vornado has an auto ship program where you specify how often to send new one and that makes it easy to replace them as you want to. I find it hard to remember which filter to get and the stores don't always carry what I want. I highly recommend!

This is certainly a great improvement in appearance to the less expensive wick humidifiers. My main 3 problems with this model is difficulty in replacing wicks,the wicks are expensive, however, more important even at the lowest setting it produced too much moisture, I had a lot of moisture condensing on the windows and mold around windows and my separate very sensitive humidistat always measured 10% to 20% or more over the lowest setting. I donated this after one season

The filters are impossible to clean.

While the humidifier puts plenty of moisture into the air, I am disappointed in one major aspect. The white filters which are supposed to be cleaned weekly are impossible to get clean. Then when they dry they become dry and brittle and are difficult to reinstall.

While cleaning the filters is certainly an option, we recommend replacing the filters with a fresh set. For your convenience, we offer a "subscription" plan that will allow the wicks to be shipped to you on a schedule that fits your needs. New filters are simple and ensure you are circulating clean humidified air. Please consider this as an alternative to cleaning your original filters.

I found the refilling of the reservoir difficult. It's quite heavy after filling and akward to turn it upside down to put back in the unit. We use it in the bedroom and had to cover the bright green lights so we would have a dark room. However we overlooked these isssues for it's quiet performace and adequananate humidifing.

I have a 3 yr old who sleeps with the door closed. LOVE the control of humidity! I never walk into a cloud of smoke but her room feels humid and smells fresh. I used it daily and even bought another one for a different room. HIGHLY recommended!!!!!!

It works great if It didn't have this one problem

I got the humidifier a little over a month ago and it works great and was easy to fill, until recently when the white gasket on the screw on top constantly comes off and seems to have stretched. Now, when I try and fill the container and hold the gasket in place while I screw on the top I have leaks. Afraid it's going to leak and ruin my hardwood floors.

I literally went through three lower quality humidifiers before choosing Vornado. I did some research online and decided to go ahead and give Vornado a shot. I'm very glad I did. The unit works very well and when not on the maximum fan speed, it's virtually silent. The customer service even before I purchased my unit was great. They reached out to me via Twitter and assisted me in my purchase. Just recently, I was contacted again via Twitter to be sure that I was happy with their product. To me, as a customer, follow-up interaction is a HUGE selling point. I'll highly recommend any Vornado product and will be a continued customer.

I now have 3 vornado humidifiers, the 40 and these newer 2 gallon models. They are so easy to use and with the filter plan you have little to do maintenance wise. Just a quick cleaning when you change filters and you're all set. Great product.

A Must Have Humidifier

I recently bought this product to use in my plant room to raise the humidity of the room. I was hesitant at first to buy this product because of the questionable reviews of this product. Boy were those reviews wrong this little humidifier has been the best thing to every happen to my plant room and to me. first the plants have really taken off and many are blooming even in the dead of winter. Secondly I have discovered that the extra humidity in the house has helped my allergies and throat problems; so I am going to invest my money in a second unit for my bedroom. Thanks Vornado for a terrific product at a reasonable price

I had an older model Vornado humidifier that had 2 - 2 Gallon tanks. Could go 24 hours without re-filling. The older model wasn't as stylish, but it was more functional.
